July 05 Burn The DanceFloor 2.0 | Promo Track Out NowHey guys. I am back after a while. I was gone for summer vacation, so was unable to update the website during the entire month of June, but fortunately, I was able to work on new remixes. I have already started work on the second edition of Burn The DanceFloor. Thanks to the great response from y’all, the second edition will also be coming very soon!! As you may have read on the website, the album will feature mixes from Love Aaj Kal, Kambakkht Ishq, New York, Kaminey and many more… The promo track is already out, so enjoy it and leave your comments. I’ve also released an exclusive remix video of Om Mangalam. The video is not up for download yet, but you can watch it on YouTube. The remix video will also be released with the album. So everywhere it says COMING SOON. The thing is I haven’t decided a release date yet. The album is 80% complete, so a tentative release date would be July 31st, but lets see…. With the release of Burn The DanceFloor 1.0, I had promised I would post a review of the album, including my personal favorite mix. Unfortunately, I was unable to do so, but I will do so right now. Lets begin with track no.1 Haafiz Khuda (Reggae Mix). For me it was an experimental mix. I haven’t made many reggae mixes, and to have one as my title mix, was something unique I wanted to try. Haule Haule (HipHop Mix) was actually a mix that I had been wanting to make for a while. I had the concept in my head for a while, but never got a chance to make it. Though now six months after the release of the soundtrack, I decided to make one hoping that it will freshen up the song for the listeners. The reason I chose to remix Dhol Yaara Dhol (Groove Mix) was because I love the original track. In fact, I love the entire soundtrack of Dev D. There was nothing special intended with the mix. My goal was to create a beat that was groovy, yet at the same time matched the theme of the song. Aasma Odh Kar (BreakBeat Mix) is a song that not many people have heard. It is a little known masterpiece. My goal was to help promote the song even further because I really enjoy the music of the original composition. The song was mixed in a rather different style, because there is a combination of BreakBeat music along with some Tribal congos as well as some Electro beats. The remix takes you through three different genres as they are fused into each other. Ringa Ringa (Elathalam Mix) is one of my favorite mixes. I think the remixed beats make the song much more danceable. The best part about the song is the singing by Alka Yagnik’s tremendous singing. Many people wonder what Elathalam means. It is actually a set of sounds, which relate back to like the Jodhaa Akbar era. The sounds of swords and metals combined. One of my most favorite works of music is Latika’s Theme by A.R. Rahman. The original composition is just a pure masterpiece. My attempt with Latika’s Theme (Techno Mix) was to add a vibrant energy into the song, so it could also work in a club. It was a similar attempt as to what DJ Suketu had done with Woh Lamhe. Bandagi (Trance Mix) is also a very unpopular song. I personally love the composition, so I hoped to create more awareness of the song to my listeners. Aaja Mahi (Electro Mix) has been the most loved mix by the listeners. I got the highest number of downloads for this track. I think that the people easily picked this mix as the best one out of all. Baawre (Tribal Mix) was a remix that I had made when I was working on Sitarist, but I couldn’t find an album to put it with. So I saved it for Burn The DanceFloor. Saanwariya (Club Mix) is a musical wonder. The music in the beginning is very minimal, with a simple techno base and a basic club beat. But as you enter the second verse of the song, the actually club beats start to hit on. Well then, here it is. That is my review of Burn The DanceFloor. Well that is the end of my blog post. Keep checking back guys and leave your comments and suggestions. It’s always a pleasure to hear from you guys! Keep enjoying the music and stayed tuned into DJ UK’s OFFICIAL RADIO. Remember to check back here for all the latest updates on all of DJ Umer Khan’s albums. Right click and save target as IntroductionHi guys. This is my very first blog post and I just want to let everyone know what they will find in my blog and what kind of things they should expect. As we all know, I have release dates for my albums. but sometimes those dates seem too far away, so I thought of posting some preview material on my blog. As I finish any remix or composition, I will post an extended sample or sometimes even the full track on my blog. This way, the visitors of www.djumerkhan.com, can see the growth of the album and then enjoy it as well during the release of the album. It is another innovative way to reach to my audience on a more personal level. Apart from pre-release, the blog will also serve as a discussion board. At the release of every album, a new post will be made. The listeners will be able to critique and comment on the album or individual tracks. It will be a way for the listeners to connect with me, so I can provide them with even more music that they like. In the discussion board the listeners and I will be able to comment to each other, so it will be a concept where both of us can discuss albums or tracks with each other. Again, it is a concept that I am trying to create so I can reach my audience on a level more than just commercial. This is my first blog post and I am hoping you guys will read it and enjoy it. I am really excited about this new adventure and I am hoping you guys will like it too. Well then, all said and done, lets begin… |
